*Guys, I am crazy excited to introduce you to a new local children’s clothing brand Toro Kids Clothing! I found out about them through a close friend and wanted to help them broaden their market. Their clothing is amazing and I’ll show you more later. First, let’s learn more about Toro.

Who is Toro?

Toro Kids Clothing is a children’s clothing brand that is based and manufactured in Cape Town. Their main focus was to design and create vintage children’s wear that is essentially timeless. Clothing of such great quality that it could be worn by future kids to follow.

Toro Kids Clothing is family owned business that was started by Mary Gertze. Mary worked in the clothing industry for 35 years and has vast experience with clothing manufacturing. Being a mother of three kids she knows the struggles moms of today go through, whether it is the kids’ picky food choices, tantrums and all the way through to their constant mischiefs. She mentions that motherhood is a huge responsibility but a complete privilege to experience. She quoted “As a woman, having children is a phenomenal blessing God has bestowed upon us.  Kids bring so much enjoyment and meaning to your life.” Time really does fly and looking back your kids grow up so fast leaving you wondering where it all went. So cherish every moment and make the most of it because…….”It’s shorter than you think”.

What boosted Mary to put her plans into action was the motivation from her very own kids and the amount of unemployed females in the community due to the dip in textile and clothing industry in Cape Town. She essentially started from the back of her garage recruiting few retrenched textile clothing workers and training women up on how to sew. Thus empowering them with the skill trade and creating employment. At Toro Kids Clothing all the clothing is manufactured locally by women from the community.

Toro Kids Clothing’s aim is to provide high quality clothing that is comfortable to your kids but at a reasonable price, contributing to making those precious moments with your children more memorable. A second part of the tale is that Mary has aspirations that one day her grandchildren will be wearing clothing she has crafted and now proudly represents.

Their website is easy to navigate and they cater for children 0-6 months through to 6-7 years old. Here’s a few of my favourites.
